Human Services

Field Work (Practicum)

The Human Services practicum is designed in integrate academic and practical experience, which can be best accomplished by involving students as active members of a helping agency. Practicum is literally instruction in the field. Students with criminal histories may be prevented from obtaining the necessary field experience required for program completion.

The student is placed in a selected human service agency under the direct supervision of agency personnel.  Each practicum placement will reflect the student's  interests, ability and educational goals.

1.  Two-Year Program Social Services

Students will have two different practicum sites, or client populations, to work with during the two years.  Two terms in one agency count as one practicum site.  Depending upon the number of practicum credits a student takes each term, the student may spend three terms at one site and then two terms at the second site or vice-versa

2.  Two-Year Program Addiction Studies

Students will have two different practicum sites, or client populations, to work with during the two years.  Two terms in one agency count as one practicum site. Students must complete 15 credits of the 25 required credits in an agency providing addiction services.
