Human Services Program
General Information
Maybe you're a person who is a good listener and you have an interest in problem solving and working with people. Maybe you're someone who accepts people as they are. And maybe you have an interest in problem solving.
These are just some of the personal characteristics that can help you succeed and find satisfaction in a career in human services.
Students entering the Human Services Program choose one of two program degrees or one certificate program:
Students choose a degree / certificate based on their interests and what type of human service they want to do after graduation.
Program Information
- The program offers training for entry-level positions in human service agencies.
The Addiction Studies and Social Services options combine academic work with five terms of supervised field work with community agencies.

The core curriculum courses are designed to be taken in sequence, with many courses requiring prerequisites.

All students are assigned an academic advisor within the program who works with individual students throughout the course of the program.

Students choose the number or classes each term based on their schedule, finances, and outside obligations. Students successfully complete the program attending part-time / full-time.
Admission Requirements

The Human Services program is open to anyone in the community.

Prospective students must meet certain academic standards in math, reading, and writing before enrolling in HS classes.

An initial assessment is completed for all students enrolling at Chemeketa Community College.

Based on the initial assessment a student may be required to complete certain pre-requisite classes prior to enrolling in Human Services classes.

Students must have completed Writing 121 English Composition / Exposition prior to entering the program.
