The University of Western States based in Portland Oregon has a Chemeketa location to offer its Massage Therapy Certificate Program. The University of Western States' program is based on the scientifically proven and therapeutic benefits of massage.
Massage therapists help people manage symptoms of stress, pain, injury, and illness by applying various massage techniques to the soft tissues and muscular structures of the body. The UWS Massage Program focuses on therapeutic and rehabilitative massage techniques while providing students with extensive hands-on experience in a brand new health sciences building.
The integrated, hands-on curriculum focuses on human anatomy, kinesiology, therapeutic massage techniques and business skills for a well-rounded education. The four quarter 768 hour certificate program is intended to be completed in 12 months and provides students with an in-depth opportunity to learn about the human body and practice new skills on real people. Students will be assigned clinical rotations in a variety of settings and through local specialty programs and outreach.
