Pharmacy Technology
Pharmacy Technician Certificate and Pharmacy Management AAS
Learn about the medicine behind medicine -
Chemeketa offers a one-year Pharmacy Technician certificate and a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree in Pharmacy Management.
Pharmacy Technology is a vital part of the healthcare delivery system. Pharmacy Technicians are highly skilled individuals who play a critical role in pharmacies. They assist Pharmacists with day-to-day operations so that Pharmacists can spend the time they need to provide quality counseling and care to their patients.
Pharmacy technicians who work in a hospital, nursing home or assisted-living-type facilities have additional responsibilities. In many circumstances, they will read patient charts in conjunction with a prescription, verified by both a physician and a pharmacist, before preparing and physically delivering medicine to nurses, who administer it to patients.
This program prepares students for occupations in a wide variety of health service areas. It also prepares those currently working in the field to take the national board exams, which was required of all pharmacy technicians starting October 1, 2008.
The Pharmacy Technician program is the first and only program in Oregon that is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). If you're just starting out or considering a second career, take a look at the Pharmacy Technician profession. Obtain a certificate in 9 months while learning about one of the fastest growing industries in health care.
Application dates for Fall 2012 are March 19, 2012 through May 25, 2012.
