Physical Science

Welcome to the physical science program at Chemeketa Community College. Physical science consists of chemistry, general science, geology, and physics. We mostly serve students who major in other fields, such as engineering, nursing, or pre-pharmacy, yet we are fully capable of serving physical science majors. If you are interested in a physical science major or career, please look at our information on careers in physical science and contact a faculty member.

Our program continues to innovate to meet the diverse needs of our students. We offer many online courses, CTV courses, and telecourses in physical science. We offer face to face courses in physical science at both McMinnville and the main campus in Salem.

We support Chemeketa's sustainability efforts by using green chemistry, cycling to work, and recycling.

We strive to build bridges to both high schools and four year institutions. Our participation in these efforts includes C.S.I. Chemeketa Style, UCORE, and Career Camps.

We open doors through the Women in Science Scholarship which was endowed by former chemistry instructor Dianna Bodtker.

We serve the greater scientific community through our participation in the Einstein@Home search for gravitational waves. You can check on Chemeketa in the list of top junior college teams.
