Class Format

How do I take classes?

The SLPA program is designed to offer courses via a distance education format. Classes are offered in an online format with supplemental audio and video components.

Online

All lecture material and activities are posted on the internet on an interactive class web site. Students visit the web site to view lecture material which is supplemented via the course textbook. Students also engage in online "discussion boards" to facilitate interactions between students and the instructor. Students may generally access materials from the class website 24/7. All assessments and assignment materials are turned in electronically. Some courses may require supplemental assignment materials such as video taped interactions or demonstration.

Scheduled Live Web Chat

Some courses will designate set times that all students in the course need to be logged in online to participate in a scheduled web chat. These times are generally published at the beginning of the term in the syllabus materials.

Practicum

Practicum for students in the SLPA program is arranged locally in your area. The practicum classes do have an online class website for discussion and lecture, but students will complete their on-site practicum in their local area.
