Social science is the systematic study of society and human behaviors.
The Social Science discipline offers instruction in the fields of –
Twelve faculty teach in these discipline areas as well as in the subjects of Women’s Studies and Hispanic/Latino studies.
Purpose and Objectives
The major purposes of this discipline area are to provide access to required and elective general education courses for students in professional-technical degree programs, and to provide courses equivalent to those offered in baccalaureate institutions for those students preparing to transfer to four-year colleges or universities. The social sciences also provide courses for many exploratory students, or those who are seeking academic and career direction.
