Job Placement

Here is where you can get help related to finding a job either while you are a student or after you graduate. We will also help you write resumes and cover letters and give you techniques for interviewing for jobs. These services are free. We even offer classes on Job Search Techniques.

If you wonder about what kind of career you may want to pursue, we offer Career Planning Workshops that will help you to zero in on what might be the best fit for you. You can contact our staff to find out when the next workshops are planned.

If you are enrolled in one of the college's professional technical programs, or some of the transfer programs, you may be required or encouraged to get work experience as part of your education here. The Cooperative Work Experience staff will help you to line up these training experiences.

Career Services hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

How do I apply for a job?

Register with us to use the free service for students and alumni. Go to My Chemeketa for community-based employment through Job Placement and Chemeketa Community College Federal Work Study (FWS) jobs. A user name and password are required to look at the jobs. This includes job listings relating to specific career programs at Chemeketa and part-time work to help you stay in school. If you are nearing graduation, we encourage you to visit us at least one term before you graduate. Come see us in Job Placement in Bldg. 2, Rm. 115.

What if I need help with a job search and don't have a computer to do a resume?

We offer the following resources to help you in the job search process.

Help! I think I need a class on job searching.

Classes are available to help you prepare and write resumes, identifying the requirements of a job, determining what an employer is looking for in a new employee and practicing interview techniques. These one-credit hour courses are listed under Job Search in the schedule of classes each term.
