Dual Enrollment FAQ:
How do I apply?
The application for dual enrollment is located on the PSU Admissions website at: http://www.pdx.edu/sites/www.pdx.edu.admissions/files/media_assets/coadmit_chemeketa_app.pdf. You may submit your application along with the $50 application fee at either the PSU Salem Center in Building 49 on the Chemeketa CC Salem campus or at the Admissions office at the PSU main campus in Portland.
Should I get my financial aid from PSU or Chemeketa?
Financial aid must be administered by PSU. PSU is the “home school” and all aid is awarded through PSU. Also remember that you must be enrolled in at least 6 credits at PSU to be eligible for aid from PSU and you must submit a co-term form to include Chemeketa credits in financial aid award.
If I am taking classes at both schools this quarter, how will PSU know
that I am full-time?
PSU won't know. You are responsible for notifying PSU of your enrollment
at Chemeketa by completing a Concurrent Enrollment (co-term) form
each term you enroll at both schools. This form is due by the end
of the fourth week of classes for that term.
Are there any courses that PSU financial aid will not cover at Chemeketa?
PSU cannot cover the costs of remedial courses (except Math 070
and 095), vocational-technical credits over the 12 credit maximum,
or credits over the 124 community college credit limit.
How will I know what classes I should be taking?
A PSU academic adviser can help you with planning appropriate classes
for completing a degree at PSU. The advisers listed below specialize
in community college transfer students and are available in Bldg.
49 at Chemeketa or 425 Smith Memorial PSU.
Do I have to take University Studies?
Yes. University Studies is our general education requirement and
you will have to take some portion of this requirement to graduate.
Your initial placement in University Studies is based upon the
number of transfer credits you had at the time of dual admission
to PSU. If you will continue to take transfer courses at Chemeketa,
your placement in University Studies may change based on the
total number of transfer credits you fully matriculate to PSU.
A PSU academic advisor can help you determine how many courses
you will need to take. Contact one of the advisers listed below.
When do my credits transfer to PSU?
When you are accepted as a dual enrollment student, you receive an
evaluation of your transfer credits. Chemeketa will then send
your grades to PSU after each term in which you are enrolled. Your transfer evaluation
will be updated within 4-8 weeks and you will be able to view
it online through DARS on the PSU Student Information System
(banweb.pdx.edu). If you need this update sooner for prerequisite
or professional school admission, please contact PSU Admissions at the number below.
