Disabilities Services

Alternate Format Services (AFS)

Audio requests should be submitted a minimum of three weeks prior to your need.

Enlarging requests should be submitted a minimum of two weeks prior to your need.

Disability Services offers alternate format services to students with print disabilities. This means that you may be eligible to receive your textbooks in an enlarged format or on a CD as an audio file or PDF file.

How to Obtain AFS Service:

Your Accommodation Specialist will determine your eligibility. Once approved, provide a copy of your Student Detail Schedule to your Accommodation Specialist at the earliest possible time.

Conditions for all requests:

You are required to sign a contract for services.

This contract requires your signature indicating that you understand the following service terms.

You will need to contact AFS immediately to change or cancel your requests.

You are required to purchase the textbooks, and may be asked to show proof of purchase.

If your request is submitted after the term begins, your material will begin with the assignments needed for that week.

Conditions for Audio Material:

It may require three weeks for the first installment of material to be ready.

Audio materials are due back the last day of the term.

Conditions for Enlarged Material:

It may require two weeks for the first installment of the material to be ready. You will receive enlarged material as a PDF file unless requesting otherwise. AFS will make every effort to enlarge the print size to your preference.

Conditions for Scanned Material:

You will be responsible for providing the book.

The binding of the book will be cut and rebound.

AFS is not responsible for any damage that occurs during the scanning process.

Conditions for Equipment:

Equipment is available through AFS.

You must be approved for equipment by your Accommodation Specialist.

A signed Equipment Loan Contract is required.

Equipment is due back the last day of the term.
