CAMP
College Assistance Migrant Program
We are a federally funded program that provides educational assistance to students who have a migrant or seasonal farm worker background in their family histories. The program provides first-year college students with both financial assistance and support services with the goal of preparing them to continue their education at a four-year college or university. The CAMP Scholarship at Chemeketa Community College takes applications starting in January of each academic year.
CAMP provides the following services:
- Tuition assistance
- Transportation assistance
- CAMP courses
- Tutoring/Mentoring
- Academic advising
- Personal counseling
- Career counseling
- Book assistance
- Health resources
- Monthly stipend
- University visits
To qualify, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

The applicant or his/her parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must have worked at least 75 days within the last two years as a migrant or seasonal farmworker. This includes any activity directly related to the production of crops, dairy products, poultry or livestock; the cultivation or harvesting of trees including nursery and forestry work; or fish farm work.
or
Currently participating or have participated in a Migrant Education Program (MEP) during any of your school grade levels (K-12).
or
Currently participating or have participated in a National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP) of Section 167 of the WIA.
- Have a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Plan to attend Chemeketa Community College full-time (at least 12 credit hours per term.)
- Demonstrate financial need according to federal income guidelines.
- Be eligible to apply for federal financial aid (FAFSA.)
- Be in the first-year of college undergraduate studies.
To apply for the CAMP Scholarship, you are required to submit the following:
- A completed CAMP Application form.
- A personal statement (written in English, 1-2 pages, double-space typed).
- Two (2) CAMP recommendation forms completed by people (no family members) who know you, your work, and your goals. You might ask a teacher, a counselor, or an employer.
- A copy of your high school or GED transcript. If not completed, you will be required to submit a copy of an unofficial transcript. Upon graduation, an official transcript must be submitted.
- A copy of your college Placement Test scores. All applicants are required to take this test as a part of their CAMP application.
- Proof of eligibility, you must submit one
of the following:
Migrant or seasonal farm worker: You will have to present proof of qualified farmwork such as W-2 forms or check stubs.
or
Migrant Education Program (MEP): If you participate(d) in one of these programs in school (K-12), you will need to submit a current certificate of eligibility (COE).
or
National Farm worker Jobs Program (NFJP) of Section 167 of WIA: If you participate(d) in one of these programs, you will be required to provide valid proof of participation.
Only complete application packets will be called in for an interview.
Please call the Counseling and Career Testing Services to make an appointment to take the placement test at 503-399-6556. Remember that in order to be considered for the CAMP scholarship, it is essential that applicants have a complete application packet turned in by the deadline for the next academic year. The CAMP application is generally available from January 1 to April 1 of every academic year.
