Chapter 1606 is the Education Program for active members of the Selected reserve, Selected reserve components of the Ready reserve. Eligibility is solely determined by the Department of Defense or the Department of Homeland Security. Basic eligibility requires a six-year obligation to serve in the Selected Reserve and satisfactory participation in training. The reserve unit’s education officer will provide the member with a Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) which is required to enroll under this chapter.
