Veteran Financial Aid
Veteran Work Study
Work study positions are available to veterans and dependants in several agencies and offices in the community. Locations must be approved by the VA to offer work study positions. Services performed vary, but must be veteran related. The work study allowance is equal to the applicable State or Federal hourly minimum wage. Students are required to maintain at least 3/4 time training to be eligible for work study.
Work study positions are not currently available in The Chemeketa Veterans' Services Office because of office structure and space limitations. The following is a list of some agencies or departments that have previously hired VA work study students. Some offices also have web sites with information.
Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs 503 273-2085 or 1-800-692-9666 Oregon Employment Department 503 947-1394 Oregon Military Department 503 584-3980 Salem Vet Center 503 362-9911
After a work study site is arranged and the application for the work study allowance is sent to the VA, the VA Regional Processing Office Work Study Department will determine eligibility by confirming with the school that you are enrolled and certified for VA educational benefits at no less than 3/4 time. While the VA may be able to pay for work done prior to the beginning of a term, the school can only confirm your enrollment and the dates of the courses in which you are enrolled.
