Summer Terms
There are different credit hour requirements for VA benefits for summer term because the length of the term is usually fewer weeks than other quarters. If all courses are the full eight weeks of summer term, the VA will pay full-time for eight credits. The VA always makes the final decision on what rate to pay based on the dates of each course provided by the college. For this reason summer term benefits will not be certified to the VA until students have enrolled and confirmed course dates, credits and applicability to program with Chemeketa Community College Veterans' Services Office.
Less than Standard Length of Term
The VA requires the Veterans' Services Office to report the beginning and ending dates of all courses and will only pay the period of time a course is offered. Some Chemeketa Community College courses meet less than the full length of a term. VA will reduce benefits if a course is part of the certified hours and does not meet the full length of a term.
The VA will pay benefits for an entire term only if all certified courses meet for the entire term.
The VA will not pay for courses that are challenged or audited.
