Previous College Credit
& Military Experience
Credit Earned at Other Colleges
VA regulations state that ANY college credit earned at colleges other than Chemeketa must be evaluated against the requirements of the degree or program you intend to pursue at Chemeketa, regardless of the number of classes taken at those previous colleges. VA regulations allow Chemeketa Veterans' Services to process a student's benefit request one term at a time for a
maximum of three terms while your prior credit is being evaluated.
It is the student's responsibility to
complete a "Request for Evaluation and Transfer of Previous Credit", identify which degree or program they are pursuing and request official transcripts from all previous colleges attended. Official transcripts may either be sent directly to the Admissions Office or students may hand-carry them to Admissions in sealed envelopes from the issuing institution. When the prior credit evaluation is complete, the Admissions Office will mail a copy of the evaluation to the student and provide a copy to Chemeketa Veterans' Services.
Due to the large number of transcripts evaluated each term, it can take as long as 12 weeks for a prior credit evaluation to be completed once all transcripts have been received by Chemeketa admissions. Therefore, students are urged to order their official transcripts as soon as possible after applying for addmission to Chemeketa.
Students ordering official transcripts for direct delivery to Chemeketa should have the transcripts sent to:
Chemeketa Community College
Attn: Admissions Office
P.O. Box 14007
Salem, OR 97309
Credit for Military Experience
Students requesting evaluation of military education must do so on the Chemeketa form: "Request for Evaluation and Transfer of Previous Credit", making sure they specify the Chemeketa program of degree they are pursuing. Students must be enrolled in or applicants to a Chemeketa program or be an applicant for graduation. The documents required for evaluation of military credit vary depending upon the branch of service and can be ordered by using the information contained in the table below. Since the Community College of the AIr Force (CCAF) is an accredited instituiton, students who have acquired any CCAF credit MUST have that credit evaluated against the requirements of the degree or program they are pursuing at Chemeketa.
