Minimum Qualifications
- Current unencumbered Oregon RN license
- At least two years successful experience in nursing practice within the last five years
- Teaching experience or educational preparation for teaching adults
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with high school students and working in a licensed nursing, residential or assisted living facility
Essential Functions
- Prepares syllabus and other course materials using the Oregon State Board of Nursing Curriculum for Nursing Assistants
- Implements the required Board-approved curriculum specifically targeting high school age students
- Meets all scheduled classroom and clinical laboratories as assigned
- Supervises and evaluates student performance in the campus Skills Lab and clinical nursing facilities
- Promotes student success among all students
- Evaluates students' progress and reports individual academic marks or rating in collaboration with other instructor(s) or clinical preceptors
- Maintains a positive relationship with personnel in all healthcare facilities used for students' experience
- Maintains and emphasizes safety in working conditions and practices, acting as a role model for students
- Completes, in a timely manner, all paperwork related to student performance as required by the College and the Oregon State Board of Nursing
- Keeps current in nursing knowledge and maintains clinical skills
- Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity into the workplace
