Minimum Qualifications
MA degree in French or MA degree in a related field with 24 graduate credits in French, plus experience teaching French as a second language.
Preferred Qualifications
- OPI certified at the Superior level in French
- Experience teaching college-credit French classes
Essential Functions
- Teach first and second-year college credit French classes scheduled on the Salem campus four mornings a week
- Maintains student records and assigns grades
- May participate in Curriculum Development; may recommend textbooks and other instructional materials/equipment; may recommend library and reference materials; may recomment course outline revisions
- Keeps current on developments in subject area and innovative techniques
- Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity in the workplace
- Promotes and applies the College's values for teaching and learning; creates a learning climate of mutual respect and fairness; encourages creative and critical thinking; actively engages students in the learning process; clarifies expectations and encourages student responsibility for learning; promotes learning as a life-long process
