Position Overview

The Information Technology Manager’s role is to plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of organizational information systems and software applications.  This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her development team on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems.  The Information Technology Manager will also be responsible for the project management methods used by the team they supervise.  This position is also responsible for the management of customer relationships between IT and the college.

Terms of Employment

100 percent, 12 month annualized assignment.

This position requires a flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend work depending upon department needs; some travel between campus sites and other college location as required.

Successful applicant must pass security inquiry which may include criminal, driving, and credit check; only information relevant to the position will be considered.

Salary and Benefits

Exempt salary schedule, Range C-4, $4,778 - $6,414/month. Dependent upon salary history and comparable experience, a salary offer would rarely extend beyond the mid-point.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in related field and five years’ experience with microcomputer based applications; OR an Associate degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or Computer Programming and three years experience of IT project management experience; OR any combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed in this announcement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of:  system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.  Extensive experience with core software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite; SCT Banner Environment including Student, HR, Finance, Financial Aid, and Alumni modules.  Familiarity with Oracle Application Express; knowledge and experience with AXIOM imaging products in an SCT Banner environment and PC operating systems.  Technically fluent in programming environments and tools, including Oracle Developer suite, PLSQL, Toad, and  FTP Voyager.  Knowledge of applicable project management methods and data privacy practices and laws.

Skills in:  project management and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, Agile Project Management models, etc.  Strong customer-service orientation.  Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication and listening skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Ability to:  be highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.  Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.  Ability to apply supervisory and management practices such as counseling, training, monitoring practices, and evaluating performance; establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, all departments of the college and partners. Flexible, facilitative management style necessary. A sound understanding of the community college learning environment and commitment to the comprehensive community college mission.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of LEAN operations and familiarity with Scrum project development methods; bilingual/bicultural.
