Position Overview
The successful candidate for this position will administer a wide range of public relations and marketing activities in a large, complex, multi-campus community college. The primary responsibilities for this position include public relations, supervision of media and legislative relations, advertising campaigns, marketing programs, and related projects. The successful candidate will have executive level responsibility and will be evaluated on the basis of results achieved.
Terms of Employment
100 percent, 12 month annualized assignment.
Requires flexible work schedule based upon program needs which includes some evening and weekend work and/or travel; in-state and out-of-state meetings, conferences, institutes, training and/or other meeting attendance as required.
Successful applicant must pass security inquiry which may include but is not limited to criminal, driving, and credit check; only information relevant to the position will be considered.
Must have a valid driver’s license. If driver’s license is from out of state, must obtain a valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days.
Salary and Benefits
Exempt salary schedule, Range D-3, $5,375 to $7,216/month.
Dependent upon salary history and comparable experience, a salary offer would rarely extend beyond the mid-point.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Five years of successful management experience in marketing, or public relations
- Excellent writing and verbal skills
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Three years experience in a related position in higher education
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- Experience supporting the Chief Executive Officer of an organization
- Experience in planning, developing, and managing budgets

Essential Functions
- Has primary responsibility for public information, marketing, and recruitment functions of Chemeketa Community College. This includes:
- Public relations
- Marketing and market research
- College website
- Media relations
- Legislative/governmental relations
- Internal communications
- Is a member of the college’s Executive Team
- Supervises a departmental staff
- Produces promotional materials, print and online publications, including brochures, the schedule of classes, and college catalog under tight timeframes
- Interfaces with various college programs and departments to provide high quality and effective marketing and student recruitment efforts
- Understands and promote the college’s Strategic Intent and Values with an emphasis on diversity
- Actively participates in the retention and recruitment of students
- Embraces appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions
