Terms of Employment
100 percent, 180 days academic year assignment.
This position may include day, evening, and/or weekend assignments. The use of non-traditional delivery methodologies as well as assignments on the work-site or in community based locations may be assigned. Some travel within the region may be required. Duty days may vary from the traditional September-June schedule. Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program.
Salary and Benefits
2007/2008 Salary Range: $38,378 to $66,944/yr. Salary placement is subject to contract negotiations depending on education and experience. Hires will normally be at Step 3.
The college also provides an excellent benefits package, which includes medical, dental, and vision coverage (subject to employee and college collective bargaining agreements). Benefits also include: life and disability insurance and membership in the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) or Oregon Public Services Retirement Plan (OPSRP).
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Education, Adult Education or a related discipline; experience in teaching a variety of business/clerical subjects at secondary, business institutions, or college level; office/business/clerical experience; proficiency in teaching and using a variety of business technology software.
Preferred Qualifications
Current teaching experience in secondary or post-secondary institutions; bilingual/bicultural
Essential Functions
- Instructs students in the Business Technology program. Assignments may include classes in Microsoft Office Suite, Business English, and Communications, Records Management, Office Procedures and Management, Keyboarding, Skill building, Word Processing, Formatting, Proofreading, Electronic Calculators, Desktop Publishing, and other subjects as assigned
- Maintains student records
- Participates in the college retention initiatives by providing regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students and the school concerning academics, behavior, attendance, etc
- Motivates students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process
- Attends in-service activities to support student success
- Participates in high school career fair and local committees
- Works with advisory committee and college committees as assigned
- Revises and updates course instructional materials
- Participates in curriculum development and improvement
- Recommends textbooks and other instructional materials and equipment
- Advises students, both prospective and enrolled in academic program requirements; assists in the registration process
- Participates as an active and effective member of the college
- Develops and maintains community contacts
- Works as a team member to coordinate and plan instructional activities with colleagues including CWE
- Promotes the Business Technology program within college , local high schools and community
- Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity into the workplace
- Uses appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions; understands and utilizes available technology as communication and data gathering tools and integrates technology into curriculum and classroom presentation
- Utilizes different methods and mediums in delivering course material: Two ways interactive, internet resources, video, online hybrid, power point, smart classrooms, etc
- Experience in record keeping, organizing and writing reports and presentations of a technical nature
- Functions as a life-long learner
