Terms of Employment
100 percent, 180 day contract, Summer, Fall, and Winter terms; beginning June 16, 2008.
Teaching assignment may include evening and weekend courses and the use of non-traditional delivery methodologies, e.g. telecourses, cable television and on-line/internet courses. Recently hired faculty is expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program.
Successful applicant must pass security inquiry which may include but is not limited to criminal, driving, and credit check; only information relevant to the position will be considered.
Must have current/valid driver’s license. If license is from out of state must obtain valid OR driver’s license within three weeks of hire.
Must provide official transcript/certification upon hire to support degree and/or course work from an accredited institution. As applicable, must complete agreement to engage in completion of course(s)/certification(s) as indicated in this announcement and within required timeframe.
Salary and Benefits
2007/2008 Salary Range: $38,378 to $66,944/yr. Salary placement is subject to contract negotiations; newly hired faculty normally begin at Step 3 ($40,789) depending on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate of Applied Science degree in related field from an accredited institution; Oregon certified EMT-Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic and ability to secure an Oregon certificate by September 1, 2008; three years prehospital emergency medical care experience; must be computer literate.
Must meet the following: Oregon State Health Division requirements for EMT Basic Course Director as defined in OAR 333-265-0020(1), or submit plan with application packet for meeting requirements by September 1, 2008. Must meet Oregon State Health Division requirements for EMT Paramedic Course Director as defined in OAR 333-265-0020(3) which includes an Associate degree requirement, within two years of the date of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in related field from an accredited institution, evidence of strong belief in role of EMT in health care; demonstrated leadership in EMS; evidence of continuing professional development; teaching experience, including continuing education and non traditional delivery; experience providing health care in a variety of systems and/or settings, including prehospital, urban and rural, critical care, intensive care, coronary care and/or emergency department; experience in organized trauma systems; Advanced Life Support (ALS) experience. Active participation in EMS/Health Care/Education organizations, trauma boards, regulatory agencies, committees, management assignments. Skilled in computer and multi-media presentation systems; experience in distance education delivery. Bi-lingual /Bi-cultural. Related experience in both public and private sector organizations; experience in prehospital transport and/or special rescue teams; experience as a First Responder and/or hospital emergency room technician; experience in industrial safety/first aid. Certification in Technical Rescue, ACLS, PHTLS, CPR, and/or as PEDS instructor.

- Meets all assigned classes
- Develops and improves instructional materials and performs all other duties required of full-time professional faculty
- Participates in appropriate professional association functions
- Participates in recruiting and orientation of program applicants
- Maintains awareness of current trends within area of expertise and incorporates trends into instructional activities
- Maintains positive relationships with appropriate certification and licensing agencies, professional associations, and district-wide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers
- Maintains current license/certificates in area of expertise/assignment as defined by Oregon State Health Division (OHD) for EMT course director
- Instructs courses in coordination with other staff
