Terms of Employment
100 percent, 180 day academic year assignment.
Teaching assignment may include the use of non-traditional delivery methodologies; i.e.: on-line/internet courses. Duty days may fluctuate from the traditional September-June schedule. Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation.
Must provide official transcript from an accredited institution to establish completion of Master’s degree or sufficient advancement in course work to show completion within three years of hire. As applicable, must complete agreement to engage in completion of Master’s degree within three years of hire.
Salary and Benefits
Faculty salary schedule; competitive based on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
RHIA or RHIT credential; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Education, Public Health, Nursing, or related field. Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Education, Public Health, Nursing, or related field OR commitment to complete a Master’s degree in a related field within 3 years of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
One year experience teaching in a community college or university setting; teaching healthcare in a community college; teaching or work experience in Health Care or Business Administration. Experience in using computers (technology) in teaching. Experience working in a hospital setting. Demonstrated ability or desire to work with culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse students and communities; bi-lingual/bi-cultural.
Essential Functions
- Uses appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions; understands and utilizes available technology as communication and data gathering tools and integrates technology into curriculum and classroom presentations
- Actively participates in the retention and recruitment of students
- Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity in the workplace
- Understands and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff, and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds
- Meets all scheduled and special classes – day, evening, and weekend
- Teaches classes, such as Medical Terminology, Health Services Management, ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding, as assigned, following approved course outline
- Prepares and develops materials for assigned classes
- Posts and maintains office hours
- Provides students with course syllabi
- Maintains records of grades and attendance; reports individual academic grades when required
- Maintains college facilities and equipment
- Participates in curriculum development; recommends course outline revisions
- Recommends textbooks and other instructional materials and equipment; recommends library reference materials
- Contributes suggestions for annual department budget
- Keeps up to date on technological changes and developments in subject area
- Attends staff meetings and participates in designated committee work; represents the department at pertinent meetings as required
- Works in a cooperative manner with other people in the department and college
- Communicates in a timely manner with students and department personnel
- Assists with academic advising and registration; recruits students as appropriate
- Promotes positive image of college and college programs
- Assists Advisory Committee as needed
- Functions as a life-long learner
- Applies the College’s values for teaching and learning:
