Resource Connections of Oregon

Resource Connections provides brockerage services to adults with developmental disabilities including independent living, finances, medical, health and safety, transportation and vocational issues. Also coordination of programs for transition to adulthood and employment and payment for those services such as long-term job coaching. Although eligibility can begin at 18 years of age, many come at 21 years old when they are finishing school and high school transition have priority. Brokerage funds cannot be spent until school transition programs or vocational rehabilitation options have been exhausted. Must go through Marion County DD services for eligibility verification. Some developmental disabilities include mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism and Asperger’s.
Transition Programs
Salem/Keizer Public Schools Community Transition class through Chemeketa
Eligibility criteria are 18-21 years old with a certificate of attainment from a developmental learning center or special education diploma. Assists with independent living and employment skills attainment and assistance in accessing and referral to other resources such as County DD services, Medicaid, Social Security, vocational rehabilitation and brokerages.
Vocational Rehabilitation (Youth Transition Program or Adult Services)
Also located in many of the Job and Career Centers. Eligibility based on permanent disability that makes it difficult to obtain, maintain or retain employment. Can assist with education, training, transportation , accomodations, vocational exploration, job coaching and assessment costs as needed. Consumers must be available to fully participate in their Individualized Plan for Employment objectives. IEPs and receipt of SSI or SSDI are considered valid documentation of a disability for eligibility purposes.
