Special Software and Devices to Aid in Your Job Search

 

Adjustable Table: Stationed in a larger cubicle, can be easily raised or lowered to proper height for standing or sitting. It is very beneficial for those using a wheelchair or similar mobility device.

 

Alternate Keyboards: One handed keyboard, large key keyboard, ergonomic keyboard or track mouse.

 

Assistive Listening Devices: Head sets for hearing magnification, reducing background noise, and assisting with concentration during workshops or while on the computer. These devices are ideal for people with hearing loss or concentration issues.

 

Braille: We can translate printed documents to Braille at each WorkSource Oregon Center. Please inform staff of your needs.

 

CCTV: This stand-alone magnification machine that allows customers to put printed material under the monitor and adjust to various magnifications. This machine can also be used by persons with visual difficulties to fill out forms or applications with practice.

 

Dragon Naturally Speaking: A speech to text software program. Speak information into the microphone and the computer responds by following commands or typing what is spoken. This software is recommended for people who have difficulty using a keyboard.

 

 

 WSO (Insert Center Name) Center

 

JAWS: Jaws software will turn print to spoken text, giving the customer the ability to understand what is on the computer screen and navigate as needed. People who are totally blind benefit greatly from this software.

 

Reading pens: Run the pen over a printed word and the pen is able to say, spell and give a dictionary definition of what has been scanned. This pen is another great tool for people with reading difficulties but with no visual issues.

 

Tool Kit: Wide lined paper, magnifiers, colored and magnification overlays, colored paper various sized pens and pencils.

Wynn Wizard: Software that assists with organizing printed materials on the computer and reading it back to the user. This software is especially nice for people with learning disabilities such as dyslexia. Wynn Wizard also has a scanning program to quickly scan printed documents into the computer.

 

Zoom-Text: Screen enlargement software for people with limited vision which allows the customer to control the size, color and spacing of the print on the computer within the Internet, Word or other software.

 

Also available are:

ASL Interpreters, On-Line and other relay services.
