Encouraging Diverse Application Pools
- Job openings promoted broadly and to a diverse audience
- Bilingual and bicultural recruitment staff
- Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Office assists search committees to review job announcements through an equity framework working reduce bias and barriers
- The recruitment team participates in regional, diversity-focused job fairs during the year with the intent of attracting and engaging our community to learn about teaching opportunities at Chemeketa
Considering the Process
- Search committee members are required to participate on ongoing trainings
- Search advocates are appointmentted to every search committee
- Interviewees are being assessed through a Intercultural Interviewing Rubric to assess their readiness to serve our diverse community
- Interview questions must assess a candidate's ability to teach a culturally siverse student body, inclusing experience and interest in culturally responsive and anti-racist teaching practices
- A new toolkit is being used by search committees to interrogate current practices
