Polk Center Student Services

Chemeketa Polk provides a number of services to help you succeed.

Check out the different services available at the Chemeketa Polk Center in Dallas.

  • Tutoring Services

    Tutoring in math and writing are available at Chemeketa Polk. Times vary by term.

    Current tutoring schedule –

    • Math: Wednesdays 9 am-5:30 pm
    • Writing: Mondays 12:30-4:30 pm and Wednesday, 9 am - 5:30 pm

    Online tutoring is available to full- and part-time students enrolled in credit classes. Visit Tutoring & Study Skills to learn more.

  • Advising, Counseling & Accessibility Services

    Advising

    General advising is available-

    • Monday & Tuesday 9 am-4 pm
    • Wednesday 9 am-7 pm
    • Friday 9 am-12 pm

    Please register for an advising appointment through My Chemeketa or calling 503.623.5567.

    Counseling

    Both general support and career counseling are available Wednesdays from 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Appointments can be made by calling 503.623.5567.

    Accessibility Services

    A Student Accessibility Services Specialist is generally available Fridays from 8 am-12 pm by appointment. To schedule an appointment, call 503.623.5567.

  • New Student Advising

    All new students to Chemeketa are required to attend a New Student Advising session. The session helps you plan and register for classes, understand your placement test scores, access student services and learn more about attending Chemeketa.

    Dates for Winter 2018 New Student Advising sessions at the Polk Center are-

    • Nov. 15, 9-11 am
    • Nov. 22, 9-11 am
    • Dec. 6, 5-7 pm
    • Dec. 15. 9-11 am
    • Dec. 29, 9-11 am
    • Jan. 3, 5-7 pm 
  • Computer Lab

    Computers and printers are available for currently registered Chemeketa students conducting college-related work. 

    Additional drop-in times for the lab for open computer use for fall term are-

    • Monday-Thursday, 11:30 am-12:20 pm, Room 104
    • Tuesday, 3:30-5:20 pm, Room 102 

    Four computers are available in the lobby at all times.

    Chemeketa Polk also has Wi-Fi available. Log into My Chemeketa for instructions on how to connect to the Chemeketa wireless network.

  • Student Success Workshops

    Chemeketa Polk offers student workshops throughout the term. Join us on the following dates-

    Get on board with state of the art online library resources available to you at Chemeketa. Presented by Reference Librarian Theresa Yancey.

  • Placement Testing

    Placement testing is available at Chemeketa Polk by appointment only.

    Generally testing is held on Fridays from 9am-12pm, but may vary based on other testing being done.

    Schedule your appointment for placement testing by calling 503.623.5567.

  • Textbooks

    You may purchase books and compared prices for other online sites through the Chemeketa Bookstore website and them sent to the Polk Center for free or shipped to our home for a small fee.

    The Polk Center provides an hourly check-out service for selected textbooks, and postings of used textbooks for sale are available at the center's bulletin board.

  • Student ID cards

    Chemeketa student ID cards are available the third through sixth weeks of each term. A photo ID is required to get an ID card. The is no charge for a first card, but replacement cards cost $5 each. Student ID cards are needed to utilize the library, tutoring services, computer labs, printing & copy machines, and bookstore. They can also be used for discounts at local area businesses. 

  • Parking

    Parking Permits are not required at Chemeketa Polk. Permits are required at other Chemeketa locations.
