Resources to help you get the textbooks you need

Affordable Textbooks

Chemeketa offers a book exchange, textbook lending library, book rental and other resources to help you get what you need for low or no cost.

Textbooks, Calculators & Other Class Supplies

  • Chemeketa Bookstore

The Chemeketa Bookstore is committed to helping you manage textbook costs. Visit the bookstore website and view the content under the Textbooks heading to learn more.

  • Chemeketa Press

Chemeketa is the only community college in the nation publishing peer-reviewed textbooks with original content authored by the college’s faculty. The college launched Chemeketa Press in 2015 as a way to reduce student textbook sticker shock.

This free service allows you to check out textbooks for an entire term. Textbooks are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and priority is given to students with a 2.0 GPA or higher for their last term completed.

    How it Works

    • You can only check out required textbooks for classes in your degree works that you’re currently registered for
    • At the Salem campus, visit Student Retention and College Life during the first week prior to the beginning of the term (Monday to Friday) for a Textbook Lending Library referral. No appointment needed, the Lending Library works as first come-first served basis. You can do one referral per day for one class. If you need books for various classes, then you need to come back on different days until you get all your book referrals.
    • If you are at Polk, Woodburn or Yamhill visit their center, one week prior to the beginning of term (Monday to Friday). Appointment is preferred at these centers. You can call the center's main phone to make an appointment.
    • Bring the following
      • Chemeketa student ID card
      • An electronic or hard copy of your transcripts if you are a returning student or this is your second term with a 2.0 GPA
      • An electronic or hard copy of your book list from Chemeketa’s Bookstore website
      • An electronic or hard copy of your class schedule from My Chemeketa
      • An electronic or hard copy of your degree works from My Chemeketa, found under grades and transcripts if you are a returning student or this is your second term at Chemeketa
    • If at Salem campus, you take your referral form and pick up your books on the first day of school at the Library (Salem Bldg. 9, second floor). If you are at Polk and Yamhill you can pick your books on the first day of classes at their centers. If you are at Woodburn you can pick them at the local Woodburn library also during your first day of classes.
    • Textbooks must be returned before the end of the term in the same condition they were lent out.

    Check the Availability of Books
