Health & Human Performance
HHP provides a foundation for the study of multidimensional areas in health, physical education, and wellness. We empower all students with knowledge and strategies to make informed health decisions and to develop competency and skills to become active individuals. Students can take courses that may fulfill the requirements for the degrees they are pursuing. We offer students the opportunity to participate and compete in sports that bring them a sense of pride and accomplishment.

No matter what you're studying, Chemeketa's health education courses can support you in your personal and professional life. In addition, taking PE classes can help you reach your fitness goals while human performance courses provide a solid foundation if you’re interested in working with athletes.
Many health courses count toward transfer degree requirements. If you're interested in a degree in the health or physical education field, our faculty can advise you on the classes you need to enter into junior-level courses at a university.

Admission & Placement
Health & Human Performance is an open program that students can join at any time. You will need to complete WR90 or higher or test into WR115 or higher before taking a credit course. This applies to most of our Health Education and Health, Physical Education lecture courses except HPE 295.
Whether you are looking to pursue an AAOT or take a variety of classes for personal enrichment, you are welcome to register in HHP classes to see how you can pursue your educational and personal goals.

Teaching Approaches
In the Health and Human performance pathway, we have a unique program that requires unique teaching approaches. While we do practice traditional teaching methods like in class teaching, essays, and quizzes, we also offer some classes hybrid and online. What makes us stand out from other programs is that we include a lot of hands-on activities, like labs, sport classes, and physical exercise classes.
