Salem-Keizer Senior Launch at Chemeketa

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation. Finishing high school is a huge milestone.

We're excited to help you begin the next phase in your life. Senior Launch is for Salem-Keizer high school seniors who have been selected by their school to enroll at Chemeketa this spring term. If you’ve been approved to take Senior Launch classes at Chemeketa this spring, follow the steps below to get ready.

To learn more about Senior Launch, connect with your high school counselor or advisory teacher.

Step 1- Apply for admission

Watch this short video first to make sure you fill out the application correctly. Select Spring 2022 (March) as the first term you plan to take classes and use your Salem-Keizer email address.

Apply for admission now

After you submit the application, we will email you next steps within three business days. Check your Salem-Keizer email account (including the spam folder) for a Chemeketa email. If you need assistance with this step, call our Admissions Office at 503.399.5006

If you have taken College Credit Now (CCN) courses at your high school and already have a Chemeketa K number, you still do need to submit an admission application. Use your existing K number on your application. If you’re also applying for Chemeketa Scholars, you do not need to change your admission term to Fall 2022.

Step 2- Claim your Chemeketa student account

If you haven't already set up your Chemeketa student account, follow the steps in your Chemeketa email. You will set up your account password and activate your student Gmail. If you need assistance with this step, call our IT Help Desk at 503.399.7899.

Meet your navigator

After you've completed the first two steps, we will assign you a Chemeketa navigator. Your navigator will help you with:

  • Academic advising
  • Your placement assessment
  • Class registration
  • Referrals to student resources
  • All other questions

Navigators: Alcina Garcia, Carlos Ordonez, Efrain Alonso, Joanne Gasca, Karen Munoz

Step 3- Complete the new student orientation

Our orientation is online:

  • Log in to your Chemeketa student portal
  • Click on the My Chemeketa tile
  • If the orientation icon is not already on your home page, click on the Services tab, then Advising link. You’ll see the orientation icon on that page

In this orientation, you'll learn about:

  • Support services
  • Academic resources
  • College life
  • Campus technology

You’ll need to complete all seven sections of this orientation.

Step 4- Complete the placement assessment

Fill out the Placement Assessment form. This will help us determine which courses you need to begin with. After you submit the form, we’ll review it. You will receive a response within 3-5 business days with information about your placement. Use either your Chemeketa or Salem-Keizer email address when you complete the form.

Step 5- Meet with your navigator

Your Chemeketa navigator will help you select classes and get you on the right path. Complete steps 1-4 prior to your advising session.

Step 6- Register for classes

Log in to your Chemeketa student account and register for classes.

Step 7- Get your textbooks

Our Bookstore is virtual! Textbooks for Spring 2022 classes will be available beginning March 17.

  • Watch this short video
  • Search for your books by course and add your required materials to your cart
  • Choose digital textbooks if available
  • Create your Bookstore profile (use your Chemeketa email and student ID)
  • Select "Pick up Salem Store" for shipping method
  • Select Senior Launch to cover payment
  • Your "Account Number" is your Chemeketa ID number (K number)

If you have questions about this step, contact your navigator or email the Bookstore.
