  • GED

    All Chemeketa facilities are closed for spring term. Our staff is operating remotely this term. See our coronavirus update page for information related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and Chemeketa's preparations and response.

    Yamhill Valley's Academic Transitions staff is still available to help you prepare for the General Education Development (GED) test.

    New Students Must Complete the Admissions Application

    Students 18 or Over 

    Students ages 18 and older who want to earn a GED

    1. Apply for admission as a GED seeker
      No application fee. Select "for personal enrichment" as your primary reason for attendance. Select "no, just taking classes" when asked if you plan to earn a degree or certificate at Chemeketa.
    2. Schedule an orientation
    3. Register for classes

    You must first obtain a Chemeketa student number by completing the Admission Application

    Students Ages 16 or 17 

    See the application process for students ages 16 or 17. You must bring a signed Underage Approval Packet (16-17) (available to print to the Yamhill Valley campus main office 5 days prior to the orientation to get their student number assigned

    GED preparation Class Orientation

    Both an orientation and placement testing for GED prep classes are required for all new students and the cost is $20.  

    New students Reserve Your Spot
    • Pay your $20 NON-REFUNDABLE orientation/testing fee at the office
      • If you are sponsored by an agency, bring in a copy of a voucher for the $20 fee.

    Students are also accepted throughout the term. For more information and instructions on how to sign up, call Claudia Gallegos at 503.316.3290.

    You must bring the following to orientation –

    • Chemeketa K# and/or Social Security Number
    • Photo ID
    • Copy of Underage Admission Application and Underage Approval Form (if under 18 years of age)

    GED Prep Classes

    Academic Transitions offers classes to prepare for the GED test –

    • Mathematical Reasoning
    • Language Arts
    • Social Studies
    • Science

    All classes are offered online only for spring term. 

    Classes cost $95 per term. This $95 fee is being waived for spring term

    GED Official Testing

    Official GED testing is available at the Yamhill Valley campus. Go to GED.com for additional information.

  • ESOL

    The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program offers high quality, challenging English Language classes that help you prepare your English for work or for study in college. All classes are taught by professional teachers trained to help students learn English.

    In addition, once you enroll in ESOL at Chemeketa, you have access to college services such as the language lab, gym, library, student life programs and college transition support.

    The Chemeketa ESOL program offers classes at these levels –

    • Beginning
    • High Beginning
    • Intermediate
    • Advanced (after advanced level, students will be encouraged to attend college here at Chemeketa)

    We offer classes in these subjects –

    • Reading/Writing
    • Speaking/Listening
    • Computer Technology

    Spring term classes begin April 6, 2020 (Remote instruction for spring term)
