  • GED

    Yamhill Valley's Academic Transitions staff can help you prepare for the General Education Development (GED) test.

    Complete the Admissions Application

    Students 18 or Over 

    You must first obtain a Chemeketa student number by completing the Admission Application. Please bring this K# to the GED orientation.

    Students Ages 16 or 17 

    See the application process for students ages 16 or 17. You must bring a signed Underage Approval Packet (16-17) (available to print to the Yamhill Valley campus main office 5 days prior to the orientation to get their student number assigned

    GED preparation Class Orientation

    An orientation for GED prep classes is required for all new students and the cost is $20. The class lasts approximately three hours. 

    New students Reserve Your Spot
    • Pay your $20 NON-REFUNDABLE orientation fee at the office
      • If you are sponsored by an agency, bring in a copy of a voucher for the $20 fee.
    Orientation Dates for fall term (September 23 - December 7, 2019)
    • Tuesday, August 13 at 1pm
    • Tuesday, August 20 at 5pm
    • Tuesday, August 27 at 5pm
    • Tuesday, September 3 at 9am
    • Monday, September 16 at 9am
    • Tuesday, September 17 at 5pm

    Students are also accepted throughout the term. For more information and instructions on how to sign up, call Jorge Anaya at 503.584.7543.

    You must bring the following to orientation –

    • Chemeketa K# and/or Social Security Number
    • Photo ID
    • Copy of Underage Admission Application and Underage Approval Form (if under 18 years of age)

    GED Prep Classes

    Academic Transitions offers classes to prepare for the GED test –

    • Math
    • Reading
    • Writing
    • Social Studies
    • Science

    We also offer various self-paced computerized instructional programs.

    Morning classes are Monday - Thursday, 9 am - 12 pm
    Evening classes are Monday and Wednesday, 5:30 pm - 8 pm

    Classes cost $95 for fall term.

    GED Official Testing

    Official GED testing is available at the Yamhill Valley campus. Go to for additional information.

  • ESOL

    The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program offers high quality, challenging English Language classes that help you prepare your English for work or for study in college. All classes are taught by professional teachers trained to help students learn English.

    In addition, once you enroll in ESOL at Chemeketa, you have access to college services such as the language lab, gym, library, student life programs and college transition support.

    The Chemeketa ESOL program offers classes at these levels –

    • Beginning
    • High Beginning
    • Intermediate
    • Advanced (after advanced level, students will be encouraged to attend college here at Chemeketa)

    We offer classes in these subjects –

    • Reading/Writing
    • Speaking/Listening
    • Computer Technology

    We do not have ESOL classes scheduled for summer term. 

    Fall term classes begin September 23, 2019. Orientation dates for fall term are:

    • Wednesday, August 21 at 1pm
    • Monday, August 26 at 9am
    • Tuesday, September 3 at 5pm
    • Wednesday, September 4 at 9am
    • Monday, September 16 at 5pm
    • Tuesday, September 17 at 9am

    Registration opens July 9, 2019.

    8:30 am - 10:30 am, Monday and Wednesday for listening and speaking
    8:30 am - 10:30 am, Tuesday and Thursday for reading and writing

    7-9:20 pm, Tuesday and Thursday for multilevel reading, writing, listening and speaking
