Basic Skills Development

Helping you obtain basic learning skills.

How Basic Skills Development Works

Before entering classes at Chemeketa, you will take assessment tests to determine your skill level in a variety of content areas. The tests help us find the best classes for your needs and goals. On occasion, some students might need to refocus on basic skills that will ensure better performance in college-level classes. This is where basic skills development comes in.

You will be recommended to the basic skills program if your test scores on either reading or writing fall below the current college cutoff for beginning college-level courses.

A non-refundable resource fee of $105 per term to participate in the basic skills development program.
