How to Apply to Chemeketa as an International Student

Ready to attend Chemeketa? Take the next step in your process.

Application Process

In order to be considered for admission to Chemeketa you will want to complete the following steps –

  1. Gather your required documents:

  2. Begin your online application:
    Make sure to carefully answer the questions on your application form. Use accurate information. Once submitted you will receive an email to create your log in to the portal that will allow you to upload your additional documents Apply Here


  3. Submit your documents:
    You will be able to upload the required documents through the application portal. See the list above for the documents you will need

  4. We will Review:
    Once your application and documents are submitted we will review your file. We will send you an admission decision within a week to the email you provided on your application. Along with your admission decision we will send you instructions to create your student account

  5. Issuing your I-20:
    1. If you are a new I-20 eligible student we will send your I-20 via email after your acceptance letter. You can continue to step #6
    2. If you are transferring from another school in the USA, you will need to provide your Chemeketa acceptance letter to your current school and ask them to transfer your SEVIS record to Chemeketa. Chemeketa will issue your new I-20 after we receive your record transfer. You can continue to step #7
    3. If you are applying as a part time student, you do not need an I-20 from us. If you want to change from part-time to become a full-time student, you will need to apply for full-time admission. You can skip to step #7
  6. Pay your SEVIS fee and Schedule your Visa appointment:
    Along with your I-20 we sent you the link to pay for your SEVIS I-901
    1. Complete your I-901 SEVIS payment
    2. Schedule your visa appointment
    3. Notify us about your visa appointment by completing your Visa Appointment Form
  7. Complete your prepayment for the term:
    Once you are certain that you plan to attend Chemeketa, please complete your tuition and fees prepayment. We will email you instructions via email when you are ready for this step

  8. Complete your Placement Process:
    We will send you instructions on how to complete your Chemeketa placement test so keep an eye on your email for these instructions

  9. Schedule your Orientation and Advising:
    We look forward to having you start your term at Chemeketa. After you complete steps 1-8, schedule your orientation appointment with your international advisor. They will send you a link to book this appointment. Check your Chemeketa email for instructions

    Begin your full time or part time application HERE

  • LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
    • No TOEFL or IELTS scores are required for admissions
    • Chemeketa offers comprehensive language and college level studies and can accept students at all levels
    • Test scores submitted during the admissions process are used for advising placement purposes only
    • All students who enter Chemeketa will take required English and/or college placement tests during orientation
  • PART-TIME CLASSES

    Chemeketa offers opportunities for international students who may need to take a class at Chemeketa while maintaining student status at another institution. In order to be considered for concurrent registration at Chemeketa, you will want to follow the steps below:

    1. Submit your brief International student application
      Applications submitted before the deadlines are processed within a week of receipt.
    2. Submit documentation
      Submit the appropriate documentation based on your situation. To determine which documents we need you to submit, please refer to the list provided on the How to apply page above.
    3. Review process
      Once we have received your documents we will review them and provide you an admission answer within a week of receiving your completed documents.
    4. Pre-pay for classes
      You will need to pre-pay for the class or classes you are interested in registering for at Chemeketa before you can officially register.
    5. Schedule appointment
      Keep in mind that if you are trying to register for a class with prerequisites, we recommend you schedule an appointment with our office to review your eligibility to register for those classes. You will want to bring a transcript that demonstrates you have fulfilled the prerequisites for the course.
