Make the Most of Your Apprenticeship
Financial Aid
Apprentices may be eligible for financial aid.
Tips
Put less than half time on the Free Application for Students Aid (FAFSA) if you are only taking apprenticeship courses. Your major must be listed as Construction Trades, General Apprenticeship - HVAC/R (major code 0030 for the AAS degree or 0030 for the Certificate). Contact the Apprenticeship Office at 503.399.5255 for help changing your major code.
Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS)
Apprentices interested in completing the Certificate in Construction Trades, General Apprenticeship in their specialization requirements below:
- Complete the 60 required APR credit hours with a C or better; earn their journey-level card; and take three additional courses:
- MTH 095, Intermediate Algebra (or higher)
- WR 115, Introduction to Composition (or higher)
- PSY 101, General Psychology (or higher)
- Apprentices interested in the AAS degree in Construction Trades, General Apprenticeship, HVAC/R Specialization requirements below:
- Complete the 52 required APR credit hours with a C or better; earn their journey-level card; and take six additional courses:
- MTH 095, Intermediate Algebra (or higher)
- WR 121, Writing 121 (or higher)
- CIS 101, Introduction to Microcomputers
- COMM 111, Speech 111, Fundamentals of Speech
- PSY 101, General Psychology (or higher)
- ECON 202, Introduction to Macroeconomics
