Chemeketa Polk Center Student Services

Chemeketa Polk Center provides a number of services to help you succeed.

  • Getting Started Workshops

    If you're not sure about getting started at Chemeketa, have questions about how financial aid works or want tips on how to succeed in college, consider attending one of our free Getting Started Workshops, which take place the term before you would like to start. 

    Spring Term Start Getting Started Workshops have been temporarily suspended. If you have questions please call the Polk Center at 503.623.5567. 

     

     

  • New Student Advising

    All new students to Chemeketa are required to attend a New Student Advising session before you can register for classes. The session helps you plan and register for classes, understand your placement test scores, access student services and learn more about attending Chemeketa.

    New Student Advising Session Dates have been temporarily suspended:  Call the Polk Center at 503.623.5567 to speak with an advisor.

  • Academic Advising, Counseling & Accessibility Services

    Academic Advising

    Throughout the regular school year general advising is available at the Polk Center by appointment.  

    • Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Friday mornings

    Please schedule by calling 503.623.5567 or online by following the steps below:

    • Login to your MyChemeketa account
    • Click on the “Services” tab
    • Click on the “Advising” link
    • Click on the “Academic Advising” link within the location of your choice
    • Click on the "Next Term Advising" or "General Advising" buttons to view availability

    Counseling

    During the regular school year general support counseling is available at the Polk Center on Wednesdays. Please schedule through your MyChemeketa (as shown above) to make an appointment, or call 503.623.5567.

    Accessibility Services

    A Student Accessibility Services Specialist is available on Fridays mornings at the Polk Center by appointment. To schedule an appointment,please call 503.623.5567.

  • Placement and Proctored Testing - ALL TESTING SERVICES AT THE POLK CENTER HAVE BEEN TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED.

    Placement Testing

    Placement testing is available at Chemeketa Polk throughout the school year on Friday mornings by appointment only as space is limited - 8 am or 9 am to 12 pm. Dates and times may vary depending on holiday schedule and other testing being done.

    Be sure to check out this advice on preparing for your placement tests.

    Students requesting special accommodations for placement testing should contact Accessibility Services at the Polk Center (503.623.5567) or at the Salem campus (503.399.5192).

    Proctored Testing

    Chemeketa Students - Proctored testing for Chemeketa students at Polk Center is only available on Fridays during the school year by appointment only as space is limited. For additional information see Polk Center Student Testing Services Information sheet.

    Chemeketa Instructors - Instructors are asked to download the Polk Center Instructor Directions for all requested Chemeketa test proctoring and fill in all information regarding test instructions and exam return instructions.

    Outside Institution Proctoring Requests - Students from outside institutions may call to schedule test proctoring. Testing at the Polk Center is only held on Fridays from 8am or 9am to 12pm and space is limited. Dates and times vary depending on holiday schedule and other testing being done. Instructors from outside institutions are asked to download Polk Center Test Proctoring Information for Outside Institutions and follow protocol.

    Special Accommodations - Students will approved testing accommodations from Accessibility Services are required to contact the Polk Center at 503.623.5567 before testing can be scheduled. For further information see Polk Center Accommodated Testing Info.

  • Tutoring Services

    All tutoring services at the Polk Center have been temporarily suspended.

    Online e-tutoring is also available to full and part-time students enrolled in credit classes. Visit Tutoring & Study Skills to learn more.

  • Textbook Pick-up at the Polk Center

    You may purchase books and compare prices for other online sites through the Chemeketa Bookstore website. You can have purchased book/items sent to the Polk Center for easy pick-up for free, or shipped to your home for a small fee.

    Chemeketa's Textbook Lending Library allows you to check out textbooks for an entire term at no cost. Textbooks are available on a first-come-first-served basis and priority is given to students with a 2.0 GPA or higher for their last term completed. You can find additional current information on Chemeketa's Student Services website

    The Polk Center also provides an hourly in-house check-out service on a first-come-first-serve basis for selected textbooks. 

  • Student ID cards

    Chemeketa student ID cards are available at the Polk Center only during specific dates/times listed below - 

    SPRING TERM 2020:  TBD

    To get a Chemeketa ID card, you need to be a current Chemeketa student, have a current student ID number, and have no holds on your Chemeketa account. There is no charge for your first card, but replacement cards cost $5 each. Student ID cards are needed to utilize the library, tutoring services, computer labs, printing & copy machines, and bookstore. They can also be used for discounts at local area businesses. 

  • Parking

    Parking Permits are not required at Chemeketa Polk. Permits are required at other Chemeketa locations.
