Advising Services

Chemeketa offers academic advising for all students who have completed Placement Assessment. Our services include –

• New Student Advising

• Prerequisite Overrides
• Transfer Contacts and Transfer Guides
• Academic advising is also available at our Polk Center, Woodburn Center and Yamhill Valley Campus

Advising Center Resources 

Peer Assistants are often available to help you with independent resources at the computer stations. These resources include:

• Navigating your student Apps Dashboard
• Class Registration
• Career Research and Assessments
• Transfer Resources
• Student Handbook

We provide academic advising via Zoom or Phone throughout the term on an appointment basis only. Academic advising is available as follows –

• Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm
• Later appointments upon request.

Chemeketa offers free, confidential, short-term counseling services to currently enrolled students. Counselors assist students with academic, personal and career counseling and work with students to improve life skills, reduce anxiety and manage stress, choose a career and locate community resources.

We have counselors that you can meet with by phone or via Zoom. You can schedule an appointment with a counselor for-

• Personal support

• Crisis counseling
• Help with identifying barriers to success
• Referrals to off-campus resources

Please review the Personal & Career Counseling Services Informed Consent and complete the Intake Form prior to your first appointment. You can either bring your completed Intake form to your appointment or send it via email to counseling@chemeketa.edu.

No doubt you've heard a lot about internships these days as businesses are eager to grow their own talent pipeline. 

There are a variety of businesses in the Woodburn area that have opportunities for you to do an internship. This is a great way to jump-start your career with valuable work experience to build your resume and compete in the job market.

TRiO

TRiO programs are for first-generation, low-income or disabled students and is made up of three federally funded programs –

• Upward Bound
• Student Support Services/Disability Support Services

High School Equivalency Program (HEP)

HEP is a federally-funded program to help seasonal farmworkers obtain a GED certificate. Learn more about the HEP program.

Parking permits are not required for students attending classes at the Woodburn Center.

The bookstore on the Salem campus is closed to the public and operating remotely. 

Textbooks can be purchased online at the bookstore's website and they will be mailed to your house.

Student identification cards are available through your Chemeketa ID Portal.

Tutoring Services

Free peer tutoring is available in person and remotely via Zoom to Chemeketa students.

Lending library requests for the Fall Term can be made via the Chemeketa Library. Students who need the same books they already have can message the library to request a renewal.

For information about requesting or renewing a laptop go to the laptop page. You must be registered for the term you want to check out a laptop for. There is a limited quantity available, on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact Pedro Ortega or Daisy Arellano at 503.399.5213.

Please visit the Woodburn Front Desk to borrow a graphing calculator. Availability is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. All calculators must be returned to the Woodburn Center.

Chemeketa Woodburn Center Testing Services is open and is proctoring exams, such as Pearson VUE Tests, including GED, Metro Pesticide, CLEP, and Instructor Proctor Exams. See details below for registering for these exams.

Please Note: No one other than the scheduled tester will be allowed on campus

You can also start a new student club at Chemeketa. You only need three interested students and a staff or faculty advisor. If you have questions about a club, or if you are interested in starting a club, please contact Joel Gisbert at the Salem Campus.

The Chemeketa Woodburn Center recruits five students a year to work on campus as office assistants, tutors or instructional assistants. Students who apply may qualify for work study or a tuition waiver depending on financial need.

The computer lab is currently open. 

The Woodburn Center provides accessibility services for students that experience educational barriers due to a disability. Accommodations to address those barriers are determined through an individualized interactive process with Student Accessibility Services, and may include adaptive equipment for classrooms, alternative format class materials, testing accommodations, exam proctoring, and others that would comply with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended in 2008 (ADAAA).
